Biographies
Daniel Mannix, Esq., President
Daniel Mannix, Esq., is a partner in Muller and Mannix, PLLC Attorneys at Law. He is currently serving his third term on the Queensbury Board of Education.
Mannix earned a bachelor’s degree in finance from Siena College and a juris doctorate degree from Albany Law School. He is a member of the Warren County Bar Association (past president), WC Bar Foundation, Elks Club, Dunham’s Bay Fish & Game Club, Adirondack Baseball Umpire Association, and is the current Queensbury School Board President.
He and his wife, Beth Ellen, have been Queensbury residents for 20 years. They have two children, Rachel Beth and Patrick, both graduates of Queensbury High School.
Timothy Weaver, Vice President
Timothy Weaver is a self-employed independent sales operator for Freihofer's. He is serving his fifth term on the Board of Education.
Weaver is an official for boys high school basketball, girls high school field hockey and collegiate field hockey. He is also a member of the USA Field Hockey Association.
He and his wife, Toni, have lived in Queensbury for more than 30 years. They have two daughters, Courtney and Caitlin, who are graduates of SUNY Oneonta and Sacred Heart University, respectively.
Beecher Baker
Beecher Baker is the retired Superintendent of Schools for Hadley-Luzerne Central School District. He is serving his first term on the Queensbury Board of Education.
Baker is a U.S. Army veteran who served in the 3rd Ranger Battalion at Fort Benning, Georgia. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Education and his master’s degree in Educational Administration from the State University of New York in Plattsburgh. He is a member of the NYS Council of School Superintendents, a member of Our Lady of the Annunciation Roman Catholic Church, and a member of the Adirondack Chapter of Certified Football Officials.
He has been a resident of Queensbury for 19 years. He and his wife, Karen, have one child, Chase, a senior at Queensbury High School.
Dawn Bleyenburg
Dawn Bleyenburg is the director of the Center for Public Health Continuing Education and a professor in the online Masters of Public Health Program at the University at Albany School of Public Health. She is serving her first term on the Board of Education.
Bleyenburg earned her master’s degree in School and College Health Education and a bachelor’s degree in Human Development and Family Studies from Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana. She is a Master Certified Health Education Specialist.
She was the treasurer and member of the executive board for the NYS Public Health Association from July 2014 to June 2021. She recently served a five-year term as a board director for the National Commission for Health Education Credentialing. She previously was a Northeast Public Health Leadership Institute Scholar and an Americorps Promise fellow in 2010 and 2001, respectively.
She has lived in Queensbury since 2003. She and her husband, Shane, have one child who attends Queensbury High School.
Francis Cabana Jr.
Fran Cabana is a retired physical education teacher. He taught PE for 33 years, three at St. Mary’s in Hoosick Falls and 30 at Queensbury Elementary. He coached basketball, football and track. He was also the vice president of the QFA for 10 years. He retired in 2009. He received his bachelor’s degree in physical education from Springfield College and his master’s of sports science from Castleton College in Vermont. He joined the Queensbury Board of Education in July 2020.
Cabana has been the manager of Pirates’ Cove Adventure Golf in Queensbury and Lake George since 1997. He also serves on the Town of Queensbury Recreation Committee. He is a member of Our Lady of the Annunciation and is often a lector and eucharistic minister. He also serves communion to the residents of the Warren Center on the first Friday of each month.
Stacy Flaherty
Stacy Flaherty is a project manager for National Grid. She is serving her third term on the Board of Education.
Flaherty attended SUNY Adirondack and received two A.A.S. degrees; one in marketing and the other in hospitality and tourism management. She also received a B.S. degree in business management and economics with a concentration in human resources from SUNY Empire. She is the second of three generations that have graduated from Queensbury High School and has been a resident of Queensbury for more than 50 years.
In addition to her board service, she is a member of International Association of Administrative Professionals and American Society of Administrative Professionals receiving her PACE certification in 2018.
Flaherty has three children, Keara, Kindra and Kyle, all graduates of Queensbury High School.
Jamey Hardesty
Jamey Hardesty is a senior vice-president and senior director of strategy at Jack Heath. He is serving his first term on the Board of Education.
Hardesty earned his Bachelor of Science in Microbiology and Molecular Genetics from Michigan State University and his Master of Public Health in Hospital and Molecular Epidemiology from the University of Michigan. He is currently pursuing a graduate certificate in strategic healthcare leadership at Cornell.
He currently serves as a founding member on the board of directors of the Common Roots Foundation in South Glens Falls. He has also volunteered for the Double H Ranch since 2013. He previously served on the board of directors for the Community Hospice Association. In 2017, Hardesty earned the 40 Under 40 from the Albany Business Review in the innovations category. In 2020, he received the Patient Minded Award from the Patient Experience Project.
He has lived in Queensbury for seven years. He and his wife, Jessica, have two children, Ainsley and Fiona, both Queensbury students.
Brad Goertzen
Brad Goertzen is the owner and principal broker of Abada Realty. Goertzen earned his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, and received an Emergency Medical Technician Certificate. He is serving his first term on the Board of Education.
Through his years, as a parent in the Queensbury School District, he was the chairperson for Queensbury Elementary School’s Snack Pack Program, and a member of both the Queensbury Elementary and the WHBI Shared Decision Committees.
He is currently the vice-chair of the Education Committee of the Southern Adirondack Realtors Association, and a member of the New York State Association of Realtors Professional Standards Committee.
He has been a resident of Queensbury for 20 years. He and his wife, Danielle, have three children in the district.
Michael Shea, Ph.D.
Michael Shea, Ph.D., is an associate professor of biochemistry and microbiology at Hudson Valley Community College. In May 2023, he was elected to serve a third term on the Board of Education.
Dr. Shea holds a bachelor’s degree from SUNY Geneseo, a master’s degree from Hofstra University, and a doctoral degree in biochemistry from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
In 2016, he was recognized for his leadership in the community with a 20 Under 40 award from The Post-Star, and in 2020, he received the SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Excellence.
Dr. Shea has lived in Queensbury since 2001 and he and his wife have three children.
