The Queensbury Summer Academy for students entering grades K-5 is a six-week, half-day program that blends academic instruction, character education, enrichment activities, field trips and more. It is designed to help students maintain and expand on the academic, social and emotional progress they made in the prior school year. Students will receive free breakfast and bagged lunches to encourage healthy eating habits during the summer. The program is hosted at Queensbury Elementary School. Enrollment is free and only open to students who are residents of and enrolled to attend school in Queensbury Union Free School District.

Students in grades K-5 will spend their time in self-contained classrooms, getting to know an individual teacher and their classmates each day. A typical day will include the following three elements:

Good attendance will help students receive the maximum benefit of this fun-filled learning experience. They may also earn an end-of-summer reward! If you have prior knowledge of family commitments during the academy period, please inform the assistant principal of your child’s school.

Transportation is provided by Queensbury Union Free School District. Students are picked up at designated bus stops, and parents are notified of their child’s anticipated pick-up and drop-off times after enrollment.

The Queensbury Summer Academy for students entering grades K-5 at a Queensbury Union Free School District school will be hosted at Queensbury Elementary School. This free program is only open to students who are residents of and enrolled to attend school in Queensbury Union Free School District. Teachers, school counselors, and administrators will contact the parents of students who need to strengthen their academic skills before the coming school year and assist them in registering for the academy. The Queensbury Summer Academy for middle school students provides additional instruction and support in math, literacy, project-based learning and social-emotional learning. Students and families will be notified by school counselors if they are recommended or required to attend.

Summer School is for Queensbury students only, and counselors are working with students on registering them for courses and Regents exams.
