Queensbury High School student considered one of the finest student-musicians in New York State
Patrick Eppedico-Cirillo represented Queensbury High School at the 2023 NYSSMA Conference All State Symphonic Band in Rochester on Nov. 30 and Dec. 1.
The experience culminated in a performance of the finest student-musicians in New York State at the prestigious Eastman Theater. Patrick played timpani in the Symphonic Band.
"This was the most musically enjoyable experience I have ever had,” Patrick said. “To be a part of an ensemble of like-minded musicians, all connected through music, was life changing.”
The All-State experience begins with a music educator, his or her student and an accompanist spending countless hours preparing a NYSSMA Level 6 solo selected from repertoire lists in the current manual. Patrick was one of 152 students selected statewide to perform in the All-State Symphonic Band.
The high school junior said he looks forward to growing more now that he has had this invaluable high-level musical experience.
Patrick has been a member of the Queensbury Band program for seven years. He plays in the Queensbury High School Concert Band, under the direction of his father, James Cirillo. He is also a member of the QHS Jazz Band, Pep Band, Concert Choir and Madrigal Singers.
Patrick has an extensive performing background, which includes five years of All-County Band Festivals and the 2022 and 2023 Area-All State Symphonic Orchestra.
“Patrick is a model student from the Queensbury Music Department, and I am proud of his determination to be the best musician he can be,” said Gregory Verheyn, the chairperson of the Queensbury Music Department. “I admire how he is setting goals and working hard to pursue his dreams. We are so proud of him for leading by example and representing the entire Queensbury community.”
