Thirteen Queensbury High School students have been named Student of the Quarter for the first quarter of the 2023-24 school year. Students each received a plaque and praise from the teacher who nominated them during a breakfast ceremony on Thursday, Dec. 7.
These students were chosen out of about 1,000 students at the high school.
Superintendent of Schools Kyle Gannon commended the students for their hard work and reminded the students to thank their parents — who were also in attendance — for their support.
“As a parent, you’ve got to look at that and feel good,” Gannon said. “But as a student, you’re being recognized, and your teacher has noticed you as the best. For me, that’s a great thing. Take time, reflect and be proud of yourself.”
QHS Principal Andy Snide pointed out that the 13 students are the top 1.3% of the class in terms of character.
“It’s not always the best academic student in the class, but it’s all those quality characteristics that we hope students come out of high school with and what employers are looking for,” Snide said. “I think these characteristics that you have will go a long way in life, and you’ll certainly see the benefit of it, sooner rather than later.”
