Six Queensbury High School seniors were inducted into the National Honor Society on Thursday, Dec. 14. The students inducted included: Reann Abbey, Valentina Di Marco, Camryn Ferone, Abigail Nissinoff, Ilaria Pincelli and Rilee Young.
These students will join the 72 current members of the QHS National Honor Society.
To be considered, students must achieve a grade point average for the first five semesters of high school of 89.5 or higher while challenging themselves with rigorous coursework. They also have to be active participants in both the school and community.
When faculty members evaluate applications, they consider academic accomplishments, leadership, character and service backgrounds of each student.
“As you continue to pursue knowledge, both in the classroom and out in the community, let curiosity be your guide,” said QHS Principal Andrew Snide. “Seek understanding, challenge yourselves and embrace the joy of learning. Remember that the pursuit of scholarship is not just about grades, but a lifelong journey of intellectual growth and discovery.”
Superintendent of Schools Kyle Gannon commended the students and applauded their parents and guardians in attendance. Valentina Di Marco’s parents were able to watch the ceremony remotely from their home in Italy.
“Your commitment to your children’s education and personal growth has been an essential ingredient to their success,” Gannon said. “Your love, support, guidance and influence have undoubtedly played a pivotal role in their journey toward excellence.”
