Collaboration can be a powerful tool to overcome defiance and reduce the fighting and

behavioral challenges at home.

Dr. Jennifer Bashant and Kristen Pidgeon will offer a virtual workshop to discuss “Avoiding Power Struggles, Angry Outbursts and Other Challenging Behaviors,” from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 8.

“Children's emotional struggles often manifest in outbursts and negative behaviors. This session will help us navigate those waters,” said Michael Brannigan, the director of Social and Emotional Learning and School Development at Queensbury Union Free School District.

In this webinar, participants will learn how to identify and address the root cause of challenging behavior, while allowing a positive relationship with your child to serve as the foundation of change.

The webinar will show parents how to teach their children to recognize the physical warning signs and how to regulate the body and manage strong emotions such as anger, guilt, sadness and elation. The webinar will also teach parents how to use mindfulness, art, soothing music and physical activity to help their children develop a toolbox of strategies that help them feel calm.
