After the success of last year’s production of “Shrek The Musical,” director Andy Terry and musical director Matt Gaulin decided to choose another fun family-friendly show that will draw audiences of all ages.

“Annie will showcase the talents of many of our returning cast members as well as our newcomers,” Terry said. “We will also be able to highlight  the many talents off stage as well. This includes student musicians, stage crew and set designers.”

Based on the popular comic strip “Little Orphan Annie,” by Harold Gray, “Annie” became a worldwide phenomenon and was the winner of seven Tony Awards, including Best Musical, in 1977. The book and score by Tony Award winners Thomas Meehan, Charles Strouse and Martin Charnin feature some of the greatest musical theater hits ever written, including “Tomorrow” and “It's the Hard Knock Life.”

Last year’s production of “Shrek The Musical” won Best Musical, Best Choreography and Best Set Construction at the High School Musical Theatre Awards.

The show received six nominations, including Best Musical, Best Ensemble, Best Choreography and Best Set Construction. Carter Sano earned a Best Actor nomination for his lead role as Shrek.

Delaney Sano, who was nominated last year for Best Supporting Actress for her role as Gingy, will play the title role of Annie in this year’s production.

Quinn Sheloski will play Oliver Warbucks, Avery Magee will play Miss Hannigan, and Adam Spero will play Rooster Hannigan. Finley Magee will play the role of Grace Farrell, Jordyn Lott will play Lily St. Regis, and Carter Stanclift will play FDR, Bert Healy and Mr. Bundles. Orphans include: Holly Pizzigati, Nevaeh Guzman, Mckenzie Cole, Emma Maynard, Alexa Bell and Brooke Meilhede.

“We are excited to bring this classic story to life on the QHS stage for the community to enjoy,” Gaulin said.
