Shea Canavan became the seventh Queensbury varsity girls basketball player to reach the 1,000-point summit in the Spartans' 62-38 triumph at Saratoga Springs on Monday, Jan. 13.

Shea joined the exclusive club on a made free throw with 3:35 remaining in the opening quarter and increased her career output to 1,019 points since donning a varsity uniform in 2021. She concluded the contest with a game-high 24 points, six assists, three blocked shots and a career-high-tying 12 steals.

Kayla Zehr registered nine points, seven rebounds, five assists and two steals as the Spartans (7-3 overall) led 15-2 after the first quarter, won their sixth consecutive game this season and were victorious at Saratoga Springs for the first time since Dec. 10, 1997. Meredith Clark posted six points and five boards, while Brianna Zehr contributed four points, six rebounds and three assists. Both Emily Sassaman (seven points) and Madelynn Murray (five points and two assists) added personal-best totals in the scoring column.
