Queensbury graduate Alex Martino recently returned to campus to talk about his career in new media.
Martino, who graduated from Queensbury High School in 2020, is a newscast director at CBS6 News in Schenectady. He visited Sally Vartuli’s video production class/club on Monday, Jan. 13 to talk about his journey.
Martino started making videos in high school. He produced the Legacy 2020 video and enrolled in SUNY Adirondack’s new media classes through the Early College Career Academy before going on to study and graduate from the Digital Media and Mass Communications program at SUNY Oswego.
His past experience includes work with the Adirondack Thunder, Syracuse Crunch, Saratoga Race Track and ESPN. He also does audio production for the Northway Family Christian Church in Queensbury, where he is an active member.
“When speaking to my students,” Vartuli said, “he emphasized the importance of building your contacts through various work experiences and paying attention to the ‘tiny seeds of passion that are planted in high school.’”
