Students attend Francophonie day.

Queensbury High School French students attended UAlbany's University in the  High School Francophonie Day on Wednesday, March 26. It was a full day of French-speaking opportunities and connections between the students and other French students and native French speakers.

Students started out with a scavenger hunt on campus led by UAlbany students in the French Department. They then participated in a fun and very active Quebecois music and dance workshop before having lunch on campus.

Finally, they sat at conversation tables with native speakers — some were professors, but most were UAlbany students — from Haiti, Quebec, Morocco, Belgium, Togo, Ivory Coast, Cameroon and Mali. The students got to talk to these native speakers in French and learn about their country and culture.

“It was a really fantastic day for the students,” said Megan Chance. “And I was able to connect with the other French UHS teachers and discuss curriculum, program advocacy and opportunities for our French students.”
