Eleven of the winter sports teams at Queensbury High School have been named 2025 Scholar-Athlete teams, and 97 Spartans have been individually given Scholar-Athlete status.
NYSPHSAA recognized 38,598 students receiving scholar-athlete distinction by earning an individual average of 90 or above this winter season, whether their team qualified or not. Additionally, 3,303 Scholar-Athlete teams have been recognized for the winter 2025 season.
To qualify as a team, 75% of a team’s average GPA for the season must be equal to or greater than 90%. This is the 32nd year NYSPHSAA has conducted the Scholar-Athlete program.
“Congratulations to the student-athletes on their rigorous efforts in the classroom,” said Dr. Robert Zayas, NYSPHSAA executive director. “Their relentless dedication to both interscholastic athletics and academics has earned them this well-deserved recognition — a truly impressive achievement. We applaud the more than 385,000 student-athletes who went above and beyond for their teams and for themselves."
This winter, 638 schools participated in the program — 81% of the NYSPHSAA membership. The full list of Scholar-Athlete teams for the winter 2025 season can be found here. The number of Scholar-Athlete individuals per team for the winter 2025 season can be found here.
