Graphic about Parent Workshop

The teenage years are defined by changes — sometimes dramatic changes — in behavior. These are often difficult years for families, even when mental health challenges are not present.

How do parents know when the changes in mood, isolating behavior and loss of interest in certain activities is clinical depression?

Dr. Jennifer Bashant will offer a virtual workshop to discuss “Depression and Suicide: Warning Signs and What You Can Do to Help,” from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 11.

“This session will help us become more aware of when our children are grappling with dark thoughts and feelings, so we can best support them,” said Michael Brannigan, director of Social and Emotional Learning and School Development at Queensbury Union Free School District.

During this webinar, parents will look at the symptoms of depression and warning signs for suicide and ways to support their children and get them professional help if needed. The webinar will also offer tips for finding a therapist.
