Having a good understanding of emotions and what they feel like in the body is an important part of self-regulation. Do your children (and do you) have a well-developed vocabulary of emotion words, and are they (and you) able to use “I statements” to express those emotions?
Beth DeAngelis, professor of Social and Emotional Intelligence at Siena College, will offer a virtual workshop titled “It’s an Inside Job: Knowing and Communicating Feelings and Needs,” from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 21.
This is the final Parents as Partners webinar of the school year.
"Appropriately identifying how we feel and what we need takes a great deal of patience and understanding,” said Michael Brannigan, the director of Social and Emotional Learning and School Development. “This session will offer insight into how we can best support our children's emotional wellbeing."
During this webinar, participants will learn how to develop for themselves and teach their children these important social and emotional skills. It is this emotional granularity that increases self-awareness, improves communication and deepens social connections.
