Queensbury Union Free School District Board of Education President Daniel Mannix accepted the Excellence in School Board Service Award at the Capital Area School Development Association dinner Thursday, April 25 at The Century House in Latham.

Mannix was nominated by Superintendent of Schools Kyle Gannon, who called Mannix a “tireless advocate” for the entire school community.

“Our relationship is one of collaboration and communication," Gannon said. "We have a professional friendship, and we can talk about difficult subjects as easily as we do about local football.

“You don’t get to choose your board president,” Gannon continued, “but if I could, hands down, I would choose Dan Mannix.”

Mannix, a partner in Muller and Mannix, PLLC Attorneys at Law, is currently serving his third term on the Queensbury Board of Education. He and his wife, Beth Ellen, have been Queensbury residents for 19 years. They have two children, Rachel Beth, who is currently attending Boston University, and Patrick, who is a senior at Queensbury High School.

“Dan is in this role for the right reasons — for the kids,” Gannon said. “Each decision he makes is with their best interests at heart, ensuring that they have access to the highest quality education. His advocacy for students is not just a duty; it's a calling.”
