The Queensbury Board of Education intends to appoint John Martin as the new assistant principal at Queensbury High School.
Martin is currently a physical education teacher and strength and conditioning coach at Queensbury High School, where he has worked for seven years. He is a personable and energetic educator who is passionate about motivating students to reach their full potential.
Martin received his Bachelor of Science degree in physical education from Salisbury University in 2012 and his Master of Science degree in sports management and administration from the United States Sports Academy in 2014. He will receive his school building leader certification from SUNY Plattsburgh in May.
“I’m very excited about the opportunity to work with our administrative team,” Martin said. “Being in my role the last seven years, I’ve had a lot of opportunity to grow. I hope to keep giving back to this district that’s laid the foundation for where I am today.”
Martin is currently the director of the National High School Strength Coaches Association and was recently named the NHSSCA Regional Coach of the Year in recognition of his coaching achievements and passion for the profession.
“I’m excited for John to join our team and grow the current relationships he already has with our students and staff,” said Queensbury High School Principal Andrew Snide. “John has such a great work ethic. I know he’ll have immediate impacts on the high school culture.”
Martin lives in Saratoga with his wife, Jamie, and son, Ryker, 5, and daughter, Kealy, 2. He will replace interim Assistant Principal Patrick Pomerville. Martin will take on his new role on July 1.
