The Class of 2028 stepped into high school during two Grade 8 Moving-Up Ceremonies on Thursday, June 20 at the Queensbury High School auditorium.

Queensbury Middle School Principal Nick McPartland said the eighth graders discovered their passions in academics, arts, sports and music, “and you’ve shown us what it means to persevere.”

“The journey’s just beginning,” McPartland said. “High school will bring new experiences, new challenges and new exciting opportunities. It will be a time to explore who you are and what you want to become. Embrace it with the same spirit of adventure and determination that you have shown at QMS. And please, please, please remember one thing — you can do hard things.”

Queensbury High School Principal Andrew Snide told the students they have shown growth and resilience and are ready to start the next chapter in their education.

“Your unique talents, diverse perspectives and collective achievements have contributed to the middle school, making it a better place for everyone,” Snide said, “and we’re excited to have your enthusiasm joining us here at Queensbury High School in the fall of 2024.”

He urged the students to join clubs, sports teams and participate in community service.

“Step outside of your comfort zone and explore new areas of interest,” Snide said. “High school’s a time of self-discovery, where you’ll uncover new talents and passions you might not know ever exist.”

QHS senior Shiv Patel echoed that sentiment when he explained that he joined the soccer team as a senior with little previous experience.

“Do something that excites you and leaves you with a lasting impression,” Shiv said.
