Two students and two teachers attend EDC luncheon.

Queensbury High School students and staff attended the annual Warren County Economic Development Corporation luncheon held at The Queensbury Hotel on Tuesday, Oct. 1.

QHS seniors Ben Barber and Lianna Webb — both members of the school’s Business and Marketing Honor Society — were able to network with members of the business community and hear from a variety of CEOs.

At the event, students heard from Dr. Kris Duffy, president of SUNY Adirondack and EDC board chair; Jim Siplon, president of Warren County EDC; Paul Scimeca, president & CEO of Glens Falls Hospital; and Drew Fitzgerald, founder of Facet Creative in Los Angeles, co-founder of JUST Water and 501CThree.org, and creator of the Water Box.

Students learned about the local economy, the current and future employment landscape, the healthcare industry, AI opportunities and impacts, the economics of natural resources, and how climate change is impacting migration, job opportunities and technological advances.

“This was a very meaningful event for the students, and it definitely sparked their interest in getting involved in community initiatives,” said QHS teacher Kelly Montanye, who attended the event along with fellow business teacher Sarah Hogan-Gauci.

Queensbury High School was one of five Warren County schools in attendance along with Bolton, Lake George, Glens Falls and Warrensburg.
