Fifteen Queensbury High School students performed in the NYSSMA Zone 7 Area All-State Festival at Proctors Theatre in Schenectady on Nov. 8-9 with 320 of the finest student musicians from 43 school districts in the Capital Region.
NYSSMA Zone 7 Area encompasses all of Albany, Fulton, Montgomery, Rensselaer, Saratoga, Schenectady, Warren and Washington counties.
The students, chosen through an application and NYSSMA solo audition process, are from the QHS orchestra, band and choral programs under the direction of Gregory Verheyn, Jim Cirillo and Matt Gaulin, respectively.
“We are incredibly proud of the effort, passion and musicianship these exceptional student musicians displayed at the Area All-State Festival at Proctors Theater,” said Queensbury Music Department Chairperson Gregory Verheyn.
Students who participated in the Symphony Orchestra include: Antonio Angelucci, Henry France Miller, Rider Lee and Julia Ross. Students who participated in the Symphonic Band include: Jedd Acquah, Evan Baird, Nathan Bogucki, Steven Johnson, Liam Kerr, Faith Lawani and Isaac Reyes. Students who participated in the Mixed Chorus include: Finley Magee, Delaney Sano, Quinn Sheloski and Elizabeth Wilson.
“These talented individuals represent the very best of the Queensbury community, showcasing the dedication and drive that define our students,” Verheyn continued. “Their commitment to their craft is truly inspiring, and they set a high standard for others to follow. Congratulations to these students, their families, and their teachers for their relentless dedication to music!”
