The Queensbury Union Free School District Board of Education intends to appoint Christine Delaney to the position of director of Social and Emotional Learning and Universal Pre-K.

Delaney currently serves as the director of Curriculum, Assessment and Educational Equity/Diversity at Galway Central School District, where she has worked since 2021.

Before that, she was the co-coordinator of SEL and Diversity at Corinth Central School District.

Delaney has a Bachelor of Science degree in childhood education from SUNY Plattsburgh, where she earned her master’s in teaching and learning in 2013. She also holds a certificate of advanced study in school building leadership and earned her school district leader certificate in 2020.

“I’m excited to join the Queensbury community,” Delaney said. “Helping students understand and navigate their emotions is something I’m passionate about. It’s essential for the learning process.”

In her new position, Delaney will oversee the social and emotional learning programming to best support the needs of all students, faculty and staff at Queensbury UFSD. She will oversee the daily operations of the district’s universal prekindergarten program, including assessments and placement. In addition, Delaney will serve as a resource for parent workshops, work as a community liaison for business partnerships, and run the Snack Pack program.

“We are really excited to welcome Christine into the Queensbury family,” said Superintendent of Schools Kyle Gannon. “Her hard work and dedication to the students she has worked with were apparent throughout the interview process. I have no doubt she will quickly become a strong asset to the Queensbury Union Free School District.”

Delaney, who lives in Greenfield Center with her husband and their three children, will start March 17.
