Students’ lives can be busy, leaving them feeling overwhelmed. The fifth Parent Workshop this school year will focus on combating that stress, aiding parents in introducing mindfulness to their children.

Dr. Paul Pineiro, assistant superintendent of Westfield Public Schools, New Jersey, will host a live Parents as Partners webinar titled “Mindfulness-Informed Parenting: Learn the Basics for Introducing Mindfulness,” from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 7.Graphic explaining upcoming parent workshop.

“Helping our children to control their thoughts and mindset is crucial to their wellbeing. This session will provide some great insight into the power of mindfulness practices,” said Michael Brannigan, director of Social and Emotional Learning and School Development at Queensbury Union Free School District.

During this webinar, parents will learn the basics for introducing their children to the practices of mindfulness, which can help build emotional resilience against feeling overwhelmed. Background on the science behind mindfulness will also be provided along with strategies the panel members have used in their teacher and parent roles.
