The Queensbury Union Free School District Board of Education intends to appoint Gwynne Cosh to the position of assistant superintendent for instruction.

The assistant superintendent for instruction oversees the professional development of instructional staff, coordinates the evaluation process and tenure appointments, and oversees grant writing and budgetary matters.

Cosh has served as principal at the William H. Barton Intermediate School since July 2019, where she leads a building of 570 students and 75 staff members. Under her stewardship, the WHBI has twice been named a National School of Character.

“I’m ecstatic and really proud to continue being part of the Queensbury school community in this new role,” Cosh said, “and help support all of our students, faculty and staff to prepare everyone to be contributors to the greater global community.”

Cosh previously served as the WHBI assistant principal from July 2016 until June 2019. Before that, she taught fifth grade at Hartford Central School District, where she started in May 2007.

Cosh received both her bachelor’s degree and master’s in education from SUNY New Paltz. She also holds certificates of advanced study from SUNY Plattsburgh. She completed the superintendent development program through SUNY Oswego in November 2024.

“I’m elated to be able to continue a rich tradition of promoting Queensbury administrators who have done exceptional work,” said Superintendent of Schools Kyle Gannon. “The future of the district is in great hands.”

Cosh, who lives in Queensbury with her husband and two children, will start in her new position on Sept. 1. She will replace retiring Assistant Superintendent for Instruction Denise Troelstra.
