The K-12 Music Department worked with Dr. Denise Lutter on Wednesday, Jan. 24 to assess the New York State Music Standards as part of the renewal process that happens every five years.
“I am extremely proud of our music department,” said Superintendent of Schools Kyle Gannon. “They achieve levels with our students that make them the finest educators in the state. We are fortunate to have such a dedicated group of professionals.”
Lutter is the teacher leadership coach for visual and performing arts at the Greater Capital Region Teacher Center. Lutter recently retired from the Bronxville School District, where she served many roles, including Teacher Center director, high school orchestra director, AP Music Theory teacher, Performing Arts Department curriculum leader, and professional development coordinator.
“Today's work with our entire K-12 department focused on NYS Music Standards review and alignment and creating an ‘assured experience’ for all students,” said Michael Brannigan, Queensbury’s director of Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) and School Development. “Denise guided our teachers through the process of evaluating our current lessons and how they come together across all grade levels to support students in music.”
