Queensbury High School’s Captain’s Club and National Honor Society are conducting a drive-thru food drive from 9 a.m. until noon on Saturday, March 23, 2024 to benefit the Queensbury Union Free School District’s Snack Pack Program.
Through the Snack Pack Program, nearly 250 Queensbury students take bags of food home every week containing items to sustain them over the weekend. The program is completely funded by donations and administered by parent volunteers, who pack bags weekly.
The program is in need of items to help feed Queensbury families every weekend and over school breaks.
“It takes so much to keep it running week after week,” said Maria Bosford, Snack Pack co-chairperson.
Food donations can be dropped off at the administration building behind Queensbury Elementary School. No one will need to leave their cars in order to donate. Monetary donations will also be accepted. Checks can be made out to QUFSD (write in memo: Snack Pack).
The Snack Pack program welcomes any donations, but is specifically in need of: oatmeal packets, Chewy granola bars, mac & cheese cups, mac & cheese boxes, Nutri Grain Bars, individually wrapped snacks, ramen noodles, tuna fish, and peanut butter & jelly in plastic containers.
“It’s always a team effort,” said Superintendent of Schools Kyle Gannon. “We need our Q-munity to come out and support our Snack Pack program.”
Can’t make it to the Drive-Thru Food Drive on March 23? Place an order from the Snack Pack Program’s Amazon Wish List. Items will ship directly to campus.
