Queensbury freshman Rowan Triller has always been a wordsmith, while her brother and sister — they’re triplets — are more athletic.
“We’re all pretty good academically, but I’m a big nerd,” Rowan admitted. “My mom would encourage us to read when we were little, but I was the only one who really kept with it.”
Even more than reading, Rowan enjoys writing stories and performing on the stage. She has written a play called “Out Of Time,” which is being performed by the Queensbury Middle School Drama Club at 7 p.m. on Friday, April 12 and at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 13 at the Queensbury High School auditorium.
She was riding on a ski lift with a friend when she came up with the storyline for “Out Of Time,” a mystery-comedy with a hilarious narrator and loveable cast of characters.
“It is about this group of people who get stuck in the same time as the Greek Gods,” she said. “They find out that the God of time, Aion, has been murdered. So they have to figure out how to solve the murder and get back to their own time.”
Rowan is not acting in the play, but chose the actors and is directing the play. Drama Club Advisor Emily Mosher said the play demonstrates Rowan’s enthusiasm and creativity.
“She has worked for the past two years on this project, and to help her create her vision and watch it come to life is truly awesome,” Mosher said. “We do not have many opportunities to showcase students' original work when it comes to play performances, so when Rowan started writing, I knew this was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for her.”
Tickets cost $6 and can be purchased at the door or at the middle school office.
