The Queensbury Union Free School District Board of Education intends to appoint Margaret Lawrence to the position of assistant principal of the William H. Barton Intermediate School.

Lawrence is currently the middle school/high school assistant principal at Corinth Central School District. She is also the girls varsity ice hockey assistant coach for the Adirondack United team.

She started her career in 2011 teaching health and physical education at Rutland High School. She has taught physical education and health at Hudson Falls Middle School and at Bolton Central School, where she also served as athletic director.

Lawrence has a Bachelor of Science degree in physical education from SUNY Cortland and a Master of Science degree in adapted physical education from the University of Wisconsin at La Crosse. She holds certificates of advanced study in education leadership from both SUNY Plattsburgh and Castleton University.

Lawrence said she is excited for the opportunity to work at Queensbury UFSD.

“WHBI is an excellent building with incredible opportunities for the students,” she said. “I am looking forward to serving the school district!”

In this new role, Lawrence will assist in maintaining an emotionally healthy and safe environment for all students and staff, collaborate with building leadership on instructional best practices, strategies and professional development needs, and will supervise and evaluate professional, paraprofessional and support personnel.

Principal Gwynne Cosh said she is excited for Lawrence to join the WHBI team.

“She has a great affinity for children, and I know she will begin building positive relationships with our students and their families immediately,” Cosh said. “Margaret is heavily involved in our local community, and I look forward to having her as an integral member of our WHBI family.”

Lawrence lives in Queensbury with her husband, Royce, and their three children Paige, Patrick and Parker. She will assume the WHBI assistant principal role beginning July 1, 2024.
